Is anyone else intrigued by all the colored cabinets popping up?
As you scan through these colored kitchens, be thinking about what you would be willing to do in your own home!
This is my favorite. Cool grey (almost blue) lower cabinets with a warm neutral on the uppers.
I’m also drawn to the warmth of this putty gray, especially accented with the great wood throughout.
Charcoal gray on the lower cabinets anchors the room.
Navy! It’s a bolder step than a neutral, but still so versatile. Navy goes with everything.
Navy cabinet doors add a lot of interest to this kitchen, but it’s lower commitment than painting the entire set of cabinets.
More color! I really like the idea of the painted beadboard island because it would be fairly easy to switch out or repaint. But it definitely adds a fun pop to this kitchen!
These people clearly are not as preoccupied with “timeless” design (Is there really such a thing?) as I am. But I admire them for going for it, and that mint really is fabulous with the dusty brick. via
I love all of these, especially the first one, because gray doesn’t seem too, too risky. I’m most comfortable with color in places that can be fairly easily switched out when my preferences change. And knowing me, that is pretty often!
So what do you think? Are you brave enough to use a color on your cabinets? Are you still in love with white kitchens (like I am)? Or is classic wood more “you”?

While I really love all the different colored kitchens I’m not daring enough to do it in my own kitchen. I think I’ll always love white! (We’ll see how I feel in 20 years from now) :) Athough, I do like a pop of color on a kitchen island. Thank you for all the beautiful photos!
My thoughts exactly! Thanks, Kristi!
I LOVE the first kitchen. The only problem I would see with it (in MY house) would be that I wouldn’t be able to keep those beautiful white cabinets looking clean and white.
Yeah – good point about keeping white cabinets looking fresh and clean. Maybe it’s a good thing I’ve got laminate, fake-wood-grain cabs right now. At least they conceal a lot of handprints! Thanks so much for commenting, Angie!
I think color is awesome in a kitchen! I love the gray too!

Oh man, a colored island has really got me thinking. THAT, I could do. Hmmm. I’ve already wanted to plug in a piece of beadboard. As for the rest of my cabinets, I’m torn between glossy white or a “rustoleum cabinet transformations” kit to do a lighter, grayer wood grain look. (google this if you haven’t seen it!)
Oh man, tough choices! I did google that kit, so thank you for pointing me to it! They say it would work on surfaces other than wood. I’m intrigued!
Colored beadboard around the outer side of your breakfast bar could be really fun!!
Not sure what took me so long to click over and read your blog since you so graciously visit mine often, but I LOVE IT! Definitely following along now, as I should have been from day 1. ;)

Thanks so much, Alana! I’m looking forward to getting to know you better!
I actually really dig the 2nd one. All these pretty pictures make my orangey-wood seem icky! Tom, let’s buy some paint!
I love your house! Just be warned that once you start, it’s hard to stop! I don’t even own this place, and I’m constantly thinking about changes I could/would make. :)
I like the looks of all of these kitchens but probably would go with white if I had a kitchen to redesign. We have cherry cabinets made in NC and I love the natural wood look.

I actually love the mint cabinets :) But maybe that’s because my current kitchen is cheap white cabinets that I can’t change because I’m renting. I would love to do something bold, though.
I love the mint cabinets too; I just know I grow out of colors pretty quickly. But hey, you can always repaint! I love that you would go bold!! (Btw, thanks for commenting, Ashleigh!)
We painted our cabinets and it’s a lot of work. Ours look white but they’re actually gray and that’s as risky as I’ll go (only because I’ve learned the hard way that keeping big things neutral is best for me with my always changing style!). I love the mint. And I’m considering doing our kitchen island in a color, it just feels like it’d be easier to change down the road. ;)

Hi Roeshel! Thanks for commenting. I hopped right over to check out your kitchen. The color on those cabinets really is lovely! They do read more white than gray, but I really like the hint of gray. Can’t wait to see the kitchen island in color! :)
